Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children
11 Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
12 That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
King David suffered because of his children. In this psalm he asked the Lord to deliver him from the hand of strange children.
Notice a few things that happened in David’s family:
– One of his sons raped and defiled one of his daughters (II Samuel 13:1-20).
– In response, another son murders the brother who raped his sister (II Samuel 13:21-36).
– The son that murdered his brother, eventually rebelled against his father (II Samuel 15: 7-12).
-Who, and what are “Strange Children”?
First I will talk about real and imaginary people. Second I will mention things and circumstances
Negative (Spiritual) People
As we develop our leadership and the Lord starts to use us to win souls and make disciples we will develop people that become our “Spiritual Children”. All children are different both in the natural and in the spiritual. We need to be aware that we can fall into the hands of “strange children” and that they will show up in our life, our business or even in our Church.
Outrageous conduct is not done for reasons of ignorance of God’s standards of truth, but is caused by self will, rebellion and one’s own sinful desires. Only the Lord’s love is able to break through to some stubborn hearts and minds. We do our best to disciple the people that the Lord entrusted us.
Jesus said, “Every pupil when he is fully trained will be like His teacher.” (Luke 6:40) Children learn most from their parent’s examples. Reward obedience and prescribe warnings for disobedience allowing the child to choose between good and evil. Solomon wrote to his own son, “A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.” (Prov. 13:1)
We do our best to form our disciples but we will always have a few “strange children”. Even Jesus had a disciple that betrayed Him.

There are also what I call imaginary people that can have a bad influence in your life. Many people that I know allow negativity to come by watching TV shows that promote negativity and criticism. DO you want examples? There are shows that use comedy to shape your behaviour like John Stewart, Jamie Oliver, Oprah Winfrey, The View, CNN, MSNBC, FoxNews, and hundreds of other that look good, are entertaining but produce “strange children” in your life. The latest American election is an example on how people hate political candidates just based on what Negative Press told them about them.
Many Christians support political leaders that promote abortion or sinful lifestyle and they are OK with that… It’s ok for haters to exist, it’s not ok to allow them to affect your life!
There’s no need to complain about what you can’t change
It simply doesn’t make any sense. Why even bother with stressing yourself and everyone around you over something that’s out of your control?
::Whether you believe or not, negative and positive thinking is infectious, as it tends to influence not only situations but also people around::
Identify negative people
- Unsupportive (Dream Killers)
- Deconstructive Critics
- Negative coaches, teachers and mentors
- Negative friends
- Negative family

3 Things you should do to get rid of negative people (strange children)
Guard Your Time fiercely
Negative people can monopolize your time – even when they’re not with you – if you’re not careful. It’s easy to spend two hours dreading a one hour meeting with a negative person.
Guard Your Heart and Your Attitude
Spending time with negative people can be the fastest way to ruin a good mood. Their pessimistic outlooks and gloomy attitude can decrease our motivation and change the way we feel. But allowing a negative person to dictate your emotions gives them too much power in your life.
Seek out positive people to keep you balanced. Just like negative people can rub off on you, a positive person can brighten your spirit.
Identify the positive people in your life. Proactively schedule time with them on a regular basis.
Protect Your Future
You have to protect your future! You are responsible for your own life. You can’t afford to waste your energy on people and things that don’t improve your life. You need every last bit of energy, every opportunity, every shred of hope, and all the love you can gather in order to be successful. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND YOUR FUTURE! Control the type of energy you let into your life!
If I see something I don’t like, I simply delete it from my life. I don’t have time for people like that. There are so many things that I enjoy in life, friends I want to be with, places I want to see, things I want to do. Life is so amazing but unfortunately I won’t live forever to enjoy it all. And so I really don’t have any time for negativity in my life. I also don’t have time to be negative because I’m so busy being positive!
Decide that you’re not going to allow negative people to determine how you think, feel, and behave. Take back your power and focus your time and energy on becoming your best self.

Consider that you are not perfect or immune to this…
We are not immune to “strange children” the secret of our victory is to remain faithful to the Lord until the end. However we must learn walk in wisdom and to pray like David
Psalm 144:11 Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children…
what are the negative things you are giving birth in your life ?
1 O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.
(The Psalm then describes different things in our lives)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will. Zig Ziglar
